Problems

Ideas about what you would like to see from the PCC.

Problems

Postby Crafty Intentions on Thu Nov 13, 2008 5:43 pm

Sorry! I don't know where else to put this - but I thought I'd let you all know that I can't seem to send any personal messages. I've tried sending several to various people (Especially to chat with someone who commented about working on setting up social gatherings for the PCC), but they are not in my sent box or my outbox - and no one has written back. I guess it could be that no one is writing back to me, but I think it is particularly curious that there is no record of what I sent in my outbox or sentbox.

Also,

What does the PCC Membership include time-wise? My only hesitation about joining is that $25 is not a tiny amount of money and you haven't said whether this is a one time contribution or not. Do you have to pay $ every year? Also, I have not yet had a table at a craft fair - Currently, I only sell online. I'm interested in being part of a crafty community of people, but I don't think I need any of the discounts on sellers tables, etc., that the PCC Membership offers.
Tell me why paying to be a member of PCC would be a good fit for a hobby crafter who wants to meet up with other crafters for a crafty time, and I'll sign up. Otherwise, I'm skeptical!

I'd be addressing these issues in a more private message to various members -- but see above!

Thanks for reading this!

Maybe Emily can help with the e-mail part of this (not my area of expertise) but I can tell you that membership is annual, and offers you discounts on classes, table fees, and other PCC sponsored events. Members would also receive priority for tables at such events. Many of us sell regularly at craft fairs, and this is a nice benefit. Additionally, there are going to be increased social events, crafty get-togethers and meet-ups as we move into the New Year. These will be posted on the calendar of events, and often on the blog, too.
Having said that, you are welcome to be a part of any of these events, social gatherings, and to use the forums even if you are not a member. Any paid events have a member and non-member rate.

Our goal is to bring together a craft community in a variety of ways. As I am sure you would agree, the craft community is diverse, and so are the needs of its crafters! The PCC is looking to support local crafters from the hobbyist to the serious small business owner.

We are happy you are here, making, doing and creating in whatever way suits you! Membership may or may not fit your current situation, but the resources of the forums and the PCC events are open to everyone.

Thanks,
Jennie

i did a brief look through of your permissions on the site to see if they somehow got goofed up, but it looked normal to me. i am going to look into it and will be in touch. i did try to send you a test message, so please post again if you haven't received it.

to answer the PCC related questions:

if you do have questions for the PCC you are always welcome to post them in the forums or email us directly: pghcraftcollective@gmail.com.

and please don't apologize for your post. i am sure that other people wonder about what membership covers or will provide them, and it really is up to you whether it is worth it at this time.

most of the events we sponsor are open to anyone who is interested. our goal is not to be an exclusive group, but more to be a resource for all crafters in pittsburgh, whether you are a member or not.

we are working on getting together a class schedule, crafternoons (craft meet-ups), and other social networking events. we are also working on putting together craft demo's and studio visits. and that is only the beginning!

i hope that between jennie and i, we have at least answered your initial questions. if you have others, please feel free to ask!
