Last minute gifts- FUSED GLASS CLASS

Postby jennie on Mon Nov 03, 2008 1:09 pm

Warm up you holiday season with some fused glass!
The PCC is pleased to announce our newest Fused Glass Workshop where you can create your very own one-of a-kind glass pieces to give as gifts or keep for yourself to enjoy!
Location: Dozen Bakeshop at 3511 Butler Street in Lawrenceville
Time: 6:30-9:00 PM
Date: Thursday. December 4, 2008

The 2 1/2 hour workshop includes:
- Step-by-step instruction for cutting, scoring and breaking glass with teaching Artist Jennie Stephens
- All the glass, tools and supplies needed to make up to 10 pendant-sized pieces of glass (System 96 glass)
- Kiln firing of the glass

The Workshop fee is:
$25 for members of the PCC
$30 for non-members

*Pre-registration is a must, as this class is only able to hold up to 15 people

Artists Bio:
Jennie Stephens is a Teaching Artist who lives and works in Pittsburgh. She has a Bachelors in Studio Art (Painting and Printmaking) and Art History, and a Masters in Archival, Museum, and Editing Studies. Jennie has been teaching in the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh for the past 9 years, as well as the last year and a half with Gateway to the Arts.
Though Jennie still paints, creates fiber art and mosaics, she was bitten by the glass bug while attending a workshop at the Pittsburgh Glass Center and has never looked back! It was less than a year before Jennie bought her own kiln, and turned her fascination with glass into something more!

Just a little update and additional info on the class! We still have some spots in the class open, so if anyone is interested, send an e-mail us here at the PCC and pre-register!

Also, anyone who is already registered should bring a small container (tupperware-type or shoebox) to the workshop, labeled with your name, to transport your finished pieces of glass.

See you then!

Hi all- just a reminder to bring a small container to transport your glass to and from the class tomorrow. I will have a couple of extra, but it is very helpful for me to keep the pieces seperate!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Dozen to get our glass on!

Opening for glass class

Postby carolyn pierotti on Thu Dec 04, 2008 4:35 pm

Thank you for the directions! I posted in the wrong place........

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. One of my kids came home sick today. :(

A last minute opportunity for anyone who can take it! I hope it gets filled.
Hope to make the next one.

Thanks to everyone who attended! I had a blast tonight, and look forward to doing this again sometime in the near future! I already have the kiln fired-up with the first batch!!! I love waking up to a kiln full of fired glass!
I will get in touch with everyone individually as your glass is ready, and we plan our rendevous.

Great to meet everyone, and thanks again!
