Hello! I am Amy and I too have loved making things since I was a little kid. I just set up a studio in my spare bedroom in a house that has been in the slow process of being renovated for over 3 years! It is nice to finally have all of my supplies in one place! I am a teaching artist and program coordinator for a non-profit. I love all crafty happenings and really appreciate the people that have taken the initiative to bring local artists and crafters together (Handmade Arcade, I Made It!, Pgh Craft Collective!). I am sure there are more, but these are the ones that stand out for me.

I have an etsy shop http://garbella.etsy.com and I am looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Hi PCC!

I'm Jasmine, the world's most non-controversial fiber artist. I dye, spin, knit, crochet, and basically anything else you can think of from my home in Swissvale. In my spare time, I'm a student double majoring in marketing and life. I've got a small business (www.dangerbee.com) that's so small I've only had one sale (and no, it wasn't to myself). Looking forward to working with you all on the Pgh craft scene!

Hi all! I've posted a couple times - so I thought I'd introduce myself....

My name's Tory and I have craft ADD! I love crafting and have tried many things myself - but always seem to have a hard time sticking with one thing. Something new and beautiful always catches my eye - and I give in to my impulse to drop what I'm doing and try that new thing!

At the moment - I spend very little time crafting as I have a 3 month old and 2 year old. So, I spend my time (I'll admit - mostly at work) perusing Etsy and various craft blogs to get my crafty fix.

My ultimate goal would be to find a craft that I absolutely love, hone my skills and eventually start selling my wares!

I'm Lauren.

I've been an artist/artisan/crafter-type-person all my life, and I've been trying to make a business of it for the last few months. My business is Klotho Handspun, and I primarily sell my hand-dyed, handspun yarn. (duh.) I also make-to-sell knit hats and things, felt/crochet/beaded jewellery, and buttons, though I'm still trying to expand my range until I figure out what I am able to sell. (I am doing what I love, and it's wonderful, but money is still a sad reality I have yet to conquer.)

I'm an avid knitter/crocheter/fibery person and I belong to a couple of knitting groups at Knit One in Sq. Hill, where I sometimes work.

Aside from fibre arts, I sometimes draw, paint, make books and sculptures, etc. In art school I was primarily a metal sculptor, and in my idealised fantasies, I still am. Maybe someday. (Welders are expensive!)

So far I've done a couple of small local craft fairs, and plan to continue.

I live in Squirrel Hill, I am friendly, and I like meeting people.
I'll be at both I Made It markets this month. If you're there, please say hi!

Hello! I'm April, and I'm a craftaholic too. Although I tinker around with many things (leatherwork, binding, papermaking, jewelry, decopage etc) I'm mostly addicted to sewing. I make some of my own clothes, as well as costumes for re-enactments and halloween. I don't knit. Don't care to learn. If I learn one more crafty-goodness, I'll explode.
I have an etsy shop, but I haven't listed anything yet. I tend to get a bit brain-paralyzed when it comes to actually selling anything I've made. I do make custom halloween costumes, and do alterations for a (very) small sideline.
I live on Troy Hill with my bf and my two cats. I have a nice little garden that's just making me wish we lived in the country already.

Hi! I'm Tamara and have crafty ants in my pants! I love to learn new crafts and techniques and enjoy doing many different artsy craftsy projects, but currently am focusing on recycled crafts along with vintage image items, combining the two wherever possible.

I can be found on Etsy at http://barkerbell.etsy.com , have a blog at http://www.barkerbellherbsandheirlooms.blogspot.com , and on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/barkerbellherbsandheirlooms

I'm a member of the Etsy Pittsburgh Street Team and love to work to promote the Pittsburgh craft community. I'm thrilled to see this forum has been created and look forward to great things from the PCC!!!!

I look forward to meeting those of you I don't know yet. I'll be at the next IMI Sundae Flea Market in Schenley Park. Feel free to stop by and say hello.

Beads from Wallpaper

Postby savelkit on Wed Sep 24, 2008 10:20 am

Hello,
My name is Kitty Savel and I work with paper.
I do collage work and cards.
I also make beads from wallpaper and make jewelry from those beads.
I have attached photos of my work.

I also knit and crochet. I really enjoy crafting. And, I try to recycle in my craft work as much as possible. For instance, I intersperse beads from flea markets and thrift shops with the beads I make from wallpaper.
I have harvested yarn from sweaters I buy at Good Will and I also crochet rugs made from fabric that I find when I am "thrifting".

I am currently doing the craft show circuit and I will post some shows that I have come across.
I was in the I Made It Pittsburgh Sunday Market this past Sunday.
I only sold one item but I am not giving up.

I would love to hear your thoughts and insights on my work.ImageImage[/img]

PB&J

Postby A to Z on Wed Sep 24, 2008 7:57 pm

Hey, I'm Joanna. I was originally a potter but I haven't been doing that since having kids. I have a BA in studio art so I have a history of dabbling in bookmaking and printmaking too. I do a lot of sewing when the boys are sleeping and often have kiddo items in my etsy shop. It's been empty all summer because we were living in Seattle for 13 weeks. We are about to drive back to Pittburgh next week. Let the crafting begin (once the boys are settled in preschool) !!
I'm interested in finding a studio space to expand my crafting endeavors. Either in Squirrel Hill or Regent Square, maybe Point Breeze. Anyone know of a shared space, or someone with an extra sunny room they might want to rent? Right now I'm set up in our unheated basement and the idea of working down there all winter makes me sad :(.
Oh yeah, I'm also a post partum doula, and teach babywearing workshops. If you know anyone expecting twins, send 'em my way!

hi guys, i'm rachael, i'm 24 and i work as a craft coordinator for pat catans in mckees rocks. it isn't really as fantastic a job as you would imagine. i come from a fine arts background and being told "everything is prettier with glitter!" doesn't always bode well with me, but i manage to get away with things like epic polymer clay projects and blood-splattered dinner plates now and then. i work making mostly crap full time, but when i'm not working i'm mostly painting and making art dolls. balance is key. i am also real into interior design, horror movies, my cats and sometimes my boyfriend. we all live in a two-bedroom ranch-style that's about five minutes from work and i spend a lot of time and money doing things like painting the insides of my kitchen cabinets pink. i don't have a lot of ties in the craft community and that should probably change. i'm also trying to go about finding the dicipline to sell some stuff, but sometimes work kind of craft-sucks me dry, you know?
